Every time I find myself mentoring someone, they often pause and ask me, "Why do you enjoy doing what you do?" And without fail, my response tends to be a long-winded explanation fueled by my immense passion for leadership and serving others. For me, being a leader is not just a role or a title; it's a calling—a calling to inspire, guide, and uplift those around me.
The age-old question of whether leaders are born or made has sparked countless debates and discussions among scholars, professionals, and aspiring leaders. I recently had an interesting meeting with one of my teams where their manager posed this exact question. We broke off into two group where one was assigned “Leaders are Made” and the other “Leaders are Born”. Once each group finished their side of the argument, we were brought back together for a debate.
