Debate: Are Leaders Born or Made?

The age-old question of whether leaders are born or made has sparked countless debates and discussions among scholars, professionals, and aspiring leaders. I recently had an interesting meeting with one of my teams where their manager posed this exact question. We broke off into two group where one was assigned “Leaders are Made” and the other “Leaders are Born”. Once each group finished their side of the argument, we were brought back together for a debate. In discussion, some argued that leadership traits are innate and inherent, others contended that effective leadership can be cultivated through learning and experience. It was fascinating to see everyone’s perspectives which got me thinking more. Are leaders truly born or made? Let's delve into both perspectives to gain a deeper understanding of this complex issue.
